A few ramblings…
Stoney at Billy Bob’s
What an awesome night. I’ve been following Stoney for almost 4 years and have seen him go from opening for Django to playing in front of a full crowd at Billy Bob’s. Over those last 4 years I’ve seen him so the incredible and it was always just a matter of time till he got this big. Over the past 4 years I’ve seen Stoney shows standing next to a wide variety of people. Most have come and gone and I still talk to some of them… Kelly, Holly, June, Craig, Lori, Schlute.. the list goes on. It just reminds me that all of us cycle friendships off an on and move on with our lives. 2 of the 3 people I went to see Stoney with, (Meg and Renee) I’ve known for quite a while and have been seeing Stoney shows with them for a few years. That at least is a good thing and sets my mind at ease. Some of us care enough about each other to enjoy life together, and heck, both have moved within a few miles of me so that its a great thing too! The 3rd piece of the trifecta, Melissa, I can only hope doesn’t go the way of all the others. She seems solid, so I’ll do all that I can to make sure I don’t screw that friendship up. Those 3 girls make me smile and laugh more than most have in this scene in a long time at least for the crew around Houston. I guess I just need to get Nichols down to Houston and the crew will be complete. Good grief I need another male to even things out. I’m not sure how I went from a badass Stoney show to badass friendships.. but I guess one is an expression of the other.
College Station Last Week
Roadtrip back to College Station but I wasn’t solo this time. Went with my 3 roadtrip buddies plus 2 to see the Double RB. It was a good show, but jeez I hate college crowds. It’s nothing inherit in the youth or anything.. It’s just that every single person is sloppy drunk and it just doesn’t lend it self well to enjoying the show. I don’t hold it against them.. I was 2 times worse than the people that were standing around us when I was in college. It was good to hear some new songs. I think this next album is going to be huge!
And my next point
Which brings me to my final point for now… I just listened to the new PG single… “Feels Just Like It Should”. It’s a turd. At least from my point of view. Why Pat is not using his God given gift of writting songs that the common person realtes to, I have no idea. This songs sounds just like every other fairy tale song that comes out of Nashville. Blah. Guess we’ll be seeing PG touring Texas more next year… He’s on a full count and the ball is heading for the strike zone.
Trying to toe the mark,
Tanker
