Fall Acoustic Show 07

Well we did it again! The 2nd Fall Acoustic show went off without a hitch and Ryan Bingham, Adam Hood & Stoney LaRue are, by far, some of the best musicians and entertainers I have ever seen and heard. To have them on stage together was one of the best moments I’ve ever had listening to live music. And having 100 other friends believe in it so much they would put up some extra money for the show was incredible!

Last year we held the show at Sidecar Pub in Houston becuase of how much soul the place had in it. When it closed down last winter I started scrambling around looking for a place that would be intimate enough, have enough soul and be central enough for everyone to travel to. Cheatham Street popped up on the radar and I called Kent Finlay, who runs the place. Let me tell you, I could not have asked for a better guy that has a better vision for what a live music venue should be. The heart, soul, musicians and fans that have come in and out of that place gives it a feeling that screams “truth”.

So with a venue picked we began looking at what musicians to have. Last year Stoney and Adam were spot on so I knew we had to have those guys back if possible. First up.. Stoney, since he’s so busy these days. We picked a date, signed the contract and we were in! I called up Adam Hood and asked if he wanted to do it again and he was all over it.. he even said he’d do it for free! I’m not sure if I’ve seen a guy with a bigger heart in this scene that Adam.. he truly just wants to play music for people. So those two set… I really wanted to add another guy up there to bring out another side of things. I landed on Ryan Bingham immediately and started asking what people thought. I got 2 responses… “Who?” or “Oh My God, YES!” There was no doubt.. this is who we had to have. Bingham’s a wild card when it comes to pinning him down so with a bit of work I was able to get him locked in to the show and we were all done but the waiting!

So you get Bingham, Adam and Stoney on one stage at one time and you quickly realize how different these guys styles are. But when it comes to real music, that come from the heart and comes from life… style doesn’t matter one bit. It’s funny how as someone that has put on a few shows.. you can plan and plan and have a vision for the show and get everything perfect.. but if the music isn’t there… you leave with an empty heart. I realized early on in this, that it’s my job to get these guys on stage and create an environment for them to do their thing… and then just get out of the way. The most important thing is to have musicians that can use the talent God gave them, effectively.

Word can’t do justice a proper review of the show itself. Hanging out with 100 of my closest friends and listening to the best music on the planet is worth everything required to make this happen. We’re allready planning the show next year and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
