Jason Eady @ The Mucky Duck
Last night Christy and I went down to The Muck Duck for a nice relaxing diner and acoustic show with Jason Eady. I love these shows on Sunday because they start around 6:00 and by the time it’s over around 9:00 you are home in time to get ready for the week and have capped off the weekend in a nice and relaxing setting.

The show was great as usual and Eady broke the news that Kevin Welch will be producing his next album which he starts recording Dec 1. He had mentioned to me a few weeks ago that he wanted to give a producer the ability to take his songs and run with them.. and I can’t think of a better guy to do that than Welch. The entire 2nd set was all stuff he will put on the new album and it is all very solid writing. It’s rare to see a singer/songwriter be as open and vulnerable as Eady was up on that stage playing those songs… many of them for the first time ever. Driving home I had one of the best conversations about songwriting that I’ve ever had as Christy and I talked through the lyrics and how Eady has a brilliant way of storytelling and leaving so much to the imagination. If you haven’t had the chance to see Jason Eady, do me a favor and catch a show. The honesty that rolls off that stage when he is singing will capture your soul.
Here’s a video of him doing one of my favorite Townes songs. He said that he just fell in love with “Loretta” after listening to it and re-reading the lyrics. I have to say that I did to. (the video does cut off at the end.. blah)
