Soak me in the sunshine, Rinse me in the rain…

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. Just busy I guess. As posted on Galleywinter

Fresh off the heels of two of the most incredible months that I’ve seen in Texas Music in a very long time, I sit here a broken mess. A time when we can’t keep up with posting events on our homepage.. a time when I just can’t figure out how to make the miles I want to travel every weekend add up… a time when I haven’t had time to write reviews of some of the most powerful shows and events (thank you Steamboat) becuase I’m too busy talking to people about the next one… it’s a time when music fans are rejoicing all over the state becuase of albums like Lost Hotel and One Voice coming out and guys like Stoney LaRue and Josh Grider leave fans speechless with an a cappella version of Amazing Grace after completely leaving their souls on stage. There are huge things happening in this music scene and even through all of that, the crud that life throws at us still gets through.

Here’s the thing though. There’s a wild card that life isn’t expecting… it’s music. I’m not sure if music is the actual cure or if it’s just a drug that helps the heart and body mend. But I do know that it works. There is story after story that I’ve read, heard and lived… and each one is deeper and darker and just about every time the story comes back to the person thanking an artist for their music reaching into their heart and helping the healing process. So while I don’t have the answers for everyone’s problems, I do have some advice if you’re stuck in a bad place. Reach out to your best friends and turn up the radio.. go to a live show… learn about a new artist and let them speak to you. Music is powerful. Just let it work.

Resurrection.
