Steamboat - Day 3

Day 3 found us heading down early to catch Josh Grider and Ryan James start the day off right at Bear River. Josh Grider took the stage and turned it up Steamboat style! I think I heard Josh ask him how he was doing after the show and he replied “Well I just rocked Steamboat so I’m doing all right.” Even though it was said in jest… nothing could be closer to the truth! Ryan James took the stage and once again showed why he was asked to be here this year. Simply awesome set!

Next up we headed down to the tent for the huge acoustic sets. Traditionally this big acoustic show in the tent has not been my favorite because I love intimate acoustic shows instead of a jam packed tent of people. BUT the line ups were incredible and the mood was on fire which was perfect. I really enjoyed the show this year for sure! The lineup was Hayes Carll, Brandon Rhyder, Bonnie Bishop and Ryan James. The middle set was Boland, Wade, Randy Rogers and Roger Creager. The finale was Bruce Robison, Jay Boy Adams, Stoney, Cody Canada and Chris Knight. Everyone was in vintage form and when Stoney played Oklahoma Breakdown I’ve never seen an acoustic show come alive like that tent did. Way too much fun!

Josh headed over to Ray Wylie Hubbard and Micky and the Motorcars at the Grand and all night I kept getting texts of how awesome the show was. MMC brought up alot of different artists to sing with them in true steamboat style and I was getting aggravated I wasn’t at the show.. but that is steamboat… you can be sure that where there is one good show… another one is being played at the same time.

No videos for today. I think I was distracted by listening to all the great music instead of watching the show through a camera. :) Tomorrow’s update might take a bit longer as we’ll be driving but I’ll try to post it from the road if I can. Oh and BTW… taking photos and sending in to the feed from a bad camera phone is hard.. none of them are coming out that great. We’ll get all our good photos uploaded ASAP when we get back.

Bad pictures or not…it has been so awesome to get these updates…along with the broadcasts on XM I have really enjoyed being a “part” of Steamboat this year!

Thanks Tank and Josh!
