Steamboat… the countdown is on!

17 days till we arrive in Steamboat for this year’s MusicFest and I am watching each minute go by slowly like a little fat kid waiting for cookies in the oven. For me, the first week in January is one of the most relaxing and best spent week than just about any other out of the entire year. You can literally check out and ski all morning and go hear live music all night from 3 till 3, every single day.
I’m not much on skiing (imagine that from a Central Texas boy), but what I do while most people are out on the mountain or recovering from a late night is sit down and try to recap what all has gone on the prior day. In years past, it usually came out in one big article, but last year I stepped it up and gave a daily recap with videos and photos as well as a live stream of photos and text messages via twitter (when cell coverage was good).
This year our little music community has really taken Twitter by storm and I’d really like to use that our advantage. If you twitter and are going to steamboat please let me know. My plan is to stream all the twitters together in one big feed! It’s going to be really cool if it works out. Plus with Twitpic added in, it will really help anyone reading along be drawn in to the experience.
I’ll also be doing daily blogs like always… complete with video, photos and quotes! I made some layout changes around the blog to really open things up to let every single person at steamboat be able to be a part of this blog if they want to. If you will be blogging while up there let me know and I’ll add your blogs so people can see your point of view as well.
Steamboat has always been about the fans and the music. It creates an environment like no other place I’ve ever seen. And there is nothing more powerful than opening our ears and listening to the live unfiltered emotions of the fans that are there. Come be a part of recording history in the making!
If you want to be a part of this and don’t currently use Twitter, go sign up and leave your username in the comments or email me at tank@galleywinter.com So what is twitter you might ask? It’s basically the answer to the question “What are you doing?” and in Steamboat… following along to the answers is going to be really fun! Also go here for more info from people that use it.
Can we go yet?!?

This is going to be GREAT! Even though I’ll be there, I’m really excited about it.
Maybe I’ll find a way to blog from Steamboat. I’ll be tweeting for sure. Awesome idea.

I’m jealous, with the job i have now can’t get the 1st week in January off. At least I can keep up with what is going on.
Have to be careful what you say now, your mom is watching.

I’ll just need to keep reminding myself to monitor my twitter vs alcohol ratio … so pay no mind when I have “no drunk tweets!” written on my arm in sharpie all week

@Ryin I thought the rule was.. nothing counts in steamboat

This twittern feed should be interesting, or at the very least, entertaining!
I might be down to blog a bit from Steamboat.

I can’t wait to get all of the updates while you guys are in Steamboat! It will be much better than sitting around wondering what everyone is up to and how the shows are going. :)
I like the new look around here.
