Stoney, Stoney, Stoney…
Went up to the DFW to see Stoney and hoped to see what I figured would be a great show. It was probably one of the most fun Stoney shows I’ve ever been to. The crowds in Dallas are just so much different than anywhere else. I guess it’s because the primary form of music there is Country. There were a handful of GW folks that I NEVER see anymore. and that just made it an awesome night. I met Heather for some Oysters and beer before the show and we got to catch up on things. There is nothing like raw live music to help bond a friendship together and I truly believe that is what happened last night. We got to chat about life throughout the night and cheer for Stoney and the Arsenals together… that kind of stuff just makes life good. Stoney once told me while we were watching an artist perform (this guy had quite the show going on), that some people just don’t care enough to think about what the songs are saying so they just like having a good time. I get the impression he makes it his job to engage the crowd and give them something to take away from the show other than a hangover the next morning. Well.. he does a good job of it. I mean, he wrapped up the show with Empty Glass by clearing the front row and sitting down off the front of the stage right in the crowd. If that isn’t engaging, I don’t know what is.
I’ll hopefully be at 2 more Stoney shows this week before the close of the year and I’ll bet that it does my soul even better each time. It looks like there will be different folks at both of the next two shows so here’s to hoping to wrap out 2006 with closer friendships through music.
